Piano Lessons

London School of Art is an award-winning performing arts school that contracts professional, experienced tutors to work within their school. All instrument lessons are one to one based and take place at the school's premises or alternatively online. Instrument lessons are available 7 days a week, after school as well as weekends.

The piano is one of our most popular classical and acoustic instruments. It’s perfect for young learners as well as any other age group. For total beginners, we follow an amazing syllabus which was set by our experienced and qualified piano teachers over the years that we now a hundred percent works with all learning styles. If you already have a bit of experience in playing piano and want to learn specific songs or style we can also help you by tailoring the lessons to fit your needs as well as following the elements of our curriculum to ensure students are progressing through the essential fundamentals and covering all necessary elements to be a well-rounded musician.

You can choose to learn piano for fun as well as for Grade exams. Grade programs are designed for students who have 2-3 years of experience learning piano and that have passed late beginner levels.

Examinations can be an extremely motivating and positive experience for students when used in the correct way. We know that exams are important not just for level assessment but for school points students may get but they should not be the ONLY focus of a musician’s education. We do not ‘fast track’ a pupil through exams by compromising on the development of secure musical foundations.

Grade exams require a high level of commitment through regular practice as well as a strong parental involvement. It’s the parent’s responsibility to encourage and monitor students is practicing at home. Minimum 20mins 4 times a week is required. As the grades get higher of course more time is needed to put in practice.

We work mainly with the ABRSM exam board but of course, we can prepare students for Trinity or LCM if requested.

Prep Test: “Working towards this early goal encourages the development of good technique and sound musicianship. The Prep Test is also an ideal introduction to the experience of taking an exam!

We have developed the Prep Test to be as relaxed and fun as possible. No marks are awarded and there is no pass or fail. At the end of the assessment, every candidate is rewarded with a certificate that includes positive and helpful comments from the examiner.

The Prep Test is designed both to provide the first assessment for pupils and to encourage the building of good musical and technical foundations before pupils enter for graded exams.

The Test includes all the sorts of skills beginners will be developing at this stage, such as a sense of pitch and rhythm, controlled and even playing, accuracy and quality of tone, and the basics of musical perception” more details can be found on the abrsm website.
