This course is designed to teach you everything you need to know about Modern Rock guitar playing and beyond. It is ideal for the intermediate to advance player, however, all levels are welcome! The focus of the course is to teach you all the relevant techniques and stylistic approaches in order to improve and supercharge your Rock guitar playing.
Tolis Zavaliaris started his guitar teaching career in 2004 at the world-famous Guitar Institute in London, which later became ICMP, where he is still part of their senior teacher/lecturer team. Over the years he has also taught and has been associated with members from the most renown places in the UK and Europe such as BIMM, ACM, IGF to name a few.
My teaching methods derive from the universities professional standards framework (HEA-UKPSF 2011), using the three dimensions of practice:
Areas of Activity
Core Knowledge
Professional Values In my Classes
I promote and I develop an effective learning environment, by designing and planning learning activities. I use online resources as well as written materials to support the learner’s needs. I monitor and I observe the student’s progress by using regular formative assessments, giving constant verbal feedback and written in some occasions. In order to encourage student participation my lessons most of the times have an open seminar style, where students can share their knowledge, experiences and opinions. I respect all my individual learners and I use diversity and differentiation where appropriate, to ensure teaching, learning and assessment, is taking place in the class.
Since I am in direct contact with the music industry as a lecturer, guitar tutor, performer, session musician, composer and publisher, I will bring this knowledge and experience to help, guide, promote and support the student’s needs.
